FIBROMYALGIA & CHRONIC FATIGUE SYNDROME & SOCIAL SECURITY DISABLITY BENEFITS

This is a guest column written my paralegal, Krystal Beasley. Krystal works closely with me and my clients to fight for social security disability benefits.

Obtaining Social Security Disability benefits is hard enough even when you are suffering from a clearly debilitating disorder. Imagine having horrible pain throughout your entire body and no doctor can find the source. Those suffering with Fibromyalgia or CFS (Chronic Fatigue Syndrome) know exactly what I am talking about.

Symptoms of Fibromyalgia and CFS are severely disabling and unfortunately not measureable by any lab tests. And because there is no test to diagnosis the fibromyalgia or chronic fatigue syndrome, it has been difficult to qualify for SSD benefits. However, recently the Social Security Administration has determined that they will consider both Fibromyalgia and CFS to be a "medically determinable impairment."

It is important that with any disabling condition, an applicant for social security disability coverage has appropriate medical treatment, and more importantly, proper documentation. In addition to well documented medical treatment, keeping a symptom diary may be helping in understanding and expressing how your symptoms interfere with your daily life.

If you or a loved one has been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) and is unable to work and feels that social security disability benefits are warranted, it is important that you retain an attorney to help you through the difficult disability process. Personal Injury Attorney Matthew Noyes can help. Attorney Noyes' Tampa Bay personal injury law firm-Perenich, Caulfield, Avril & Noyes-has been caring for clients through the disability process, after car accidents, motorcycle accidents, workers' compensation claims, and any other personal injury matters for over 55 year.
