LIDODERM IS MOST COSTLY WORKERS' COMPENSATION DRUG FOR HARTFORD

Lidoderm is now passed OxyContin is the most costly pharmaceutical used to treat workers' compensation injuries, according to claims data collected by Hartford Financial Services Group, Inc. OxyContin, a narcotic painkiller, had led the list since 2001. However, it is now number five on the list.

Personally, I don't understand Florida's work comp system. Despite studies showing that chiropractic care is best for most work-related injuries, the workers' compensation law puts a limit on the number of times an injured worker can treat with a chiropractic but has no limit on how many drugs an injured worker can take and how many injections he or she can undergo. I would think that if the workers' compensation carriers provided more chiropractic care, they wouldn't have to spend so much on pain management modalities.

If you have been injured in a Florida workers' compensation case, you should talk with an attorney about the limited rights and benefits you have under the law. You need to have someone on your side to make sure you get the benefits. Your adjuster and nurse case manager work for the insurance company--not you.
