If you are like me and drive on U.S. 19 in Clearwater/Largo, things will be different starting tonight or tomorrow morning. So, watch out for car accidents!
According to the ClearwaterPatch.com, the Florida Department of Transportation has announced that southbound traffic on U.S. 19 between Whitney Road and Gulf-to-Bay Boulevard will be switched to the mainline U.S. 19 sometime Wednesday night or early Thursday morning. Also, traffic going north on U.S. 19 in this area will shift off the frontage roads and onto the mainline sometime Thursday evening. The outside (or third lane) will be closed in each direction as work continues on permanent ramp connections and additional work on the lanes.
The new northbound on-ramp at Nursery Road is also expected to open on Saturday morning.
With these new changes, be prepared for good drivers to make mistakes and bad drivers to drive worse – all of which can lead to a car accident. Be alert. Maintain your distances in front and on the sides. Enjoy the traffic-light-free U.S. Highway 19. I know I will!
