Being injured or having a friend or family member killed in car accident is never good timing. However, when it happens during the Christmas season, it seems to have a great impact on all involved. I am sure this is the case for two Largo families after a fatal pedestrian accident last night.
According to reports, 18-year-old Juantavis Westley was crossing southbound Ulmerton Road near 121st Street North in Largo when he was struck by a westbound 2014 Hyundai Elantra. According to the reports, the traffic signal was flashing yellow for Ulmerton Road traffic and flashing red for 121st Street North traffic. The Florida Highway Patrol said that the driver of the vehicle did not see Mr. Westley due to low light conditions. Sadly, Mr. Westley was transported to Northside Hospital, where he died from his injuries. Alcohol was NOT a factor in this car accident.
My thoughts and prayers go out to both the Westley family and the driver (who I choose not to identify) and his family. Spending Christmas without a family member or knowing that your car accident resulted in a fatality is tough on all parties involved. This Christmas season, let’s all pay closer attention on the roads so we and no other family have to go through the Christmas season without a family member or with injuries from a car accident or fatal pedestrian accident.
Have a safe and joyous Christmas season!!
