A LOT HAS CHANGED SINCE FLORIDA BECAME A STATE 162 YEARS AGO
Today, March 3rd, marks the day that our great State of Florida became the 27th state of the United States. That makes the State of Florida 162 years old.
Throughout the 162 years, Florida has seen great changes. Its population started at 57,921 when President Tyler signed the law created statehood to over 18 million people today.
Although not a native Floridian, I have been living in Florida for over 31 years. In my years here, I have seen the roads go more crowded and more dangerous. Too many car accidents are happening because the busy roads are being traveled by drivers enjoying Florida’s scenery and not paying attention. Too many families are being traumatically changed because a loved one is injured through no fault of their own. Too many people are having to fight battles with big insurance companies just to be made whole after a Florida car accident.
Happy Birthday to the State of Florida! My birthday wish is that your Legislature as they meet in the upcoming days appreciate how far you have come and take steps to protect all Floridians in the event of a Florida car accident. I further wish that your government puts people before profits when deciding laws that effect those injured in car accidents on the busy roads of Florida.
