A pedestrian vs. car accident results in life-threatening injuries Wednesday night after a man was struck by a vehicle while walking across Gulf Boulevard in Redington Beach. According to the TBO.com report, Darrel Johnson did not appear to be in a crosswalk at 16333 Gulf Blvd. when he was struck around 8 p.m. by a 1997 Honda Accord. The driver of the Accord showed no signs of impairment.
With Spring Break coming up, it is important for all of us to remember there will be a lot of pedestrians walking along Tampa Bay’s beach roads. Some will use the crosswalks and others simply will not. Drivers need to be on the lookout for all pedestrians. Look ahead while you are driving. If you see a pedestrian, keep an eye on him or her to see if they will be walking out in front of you. A few extra seconds can save the pedestrian’s life.
Drive and walk safely and watch out for those who don’t.
