Road Rage – Another Reason for the Need for Uninsured Motorist Coverage

Tags:

road rage means need for uninsured motorist coverageA man was shot Sunday morning in what police believe to be a road rage incident in New Port Richey. According to the Tampa Bay Times, the man was shot around 9:15 a.m. near the intersection of U.S. 19 and Cross Bayou Boulevard. The victim was taken to Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point, where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries. Police are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact Detective J. Ioppolo at 727-232-8905.

It is amazing how people drive sometimes.  Many road rage incidents result on the aggressor leaving the scene even after causing a car accident. If injuries are sustained because of the road rage, you may be without recourse to pay for your medical expenses and lost wages if you do not carry uninsured motorist coverage.

Uninsured motorist coverage protects you and your family after being injured in a car accident caused by someone who flees the scene of the crash or caused by someone with little or no bodily injury liability coverage. I believe it is the most important type of car insurance because those premiums protect you from the acts of bad or irresponsible drivers.

Check your car insurance policy now to see if you have uninsured motorist coverage. Don’t believe the agent who tells you that you have “full coverage” as that may not include uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage. Checking now and avoid an injustice later.

Drive safely and watch out for those who don’t!
