Two Separate Motorcycle Accidents on Sunday Result in Two Deaths

Tampa Bay motorcycle accidentsSadly, Sunday proved to be deadly for motorcycle riders as two Tampa Bay motorcyclists were killed in two separate motorcycle accidents.

According to the Tampa Bay Times, Daniel Kevin Popke, of Valrico, was killed Sunday afternoon in a motorcycle accident after a car turned into his path on U.S. 41 in Tampa. A Honda Civic was southbound on U.S. 41 in the inside turn lane just south of Nehaul Place when its driver turned left into the path of Mr. Popke’s Harley Davidson. The impact caused Mr. Popke to be ejected from the motorcycle, troopers said. Mr. Popke was transported to Tampa General Hospital, where he later died from his injuries. Alcohol was not a factor in the crash, the FHP said.

Another motorcycle accident occurred on Interstate 4 on Sunday morning. According to the Tampa Bay Times, Krystal Andreu, of Plant City, was driving a 2006 Suzuki motorcycle east on I-4 just west of Branch Forbes Road when, for unknown reasons, the bike overturned and ran off the road. Miss Andreu was ejected from the motorcycle and landed in the road, where she was struck by an oncoming 2015 Toyota Camry. The driver of the vehicle was not physically injured, but sadly, Andreu died at the scene. Alcohol was not a factor in the crash, FHP said.

These two motorcycle accidents should serve as a reminder of the importance of watching out for motorcyclists on the road. Sadly, two families woke up today without their loved one. Accidents happen and a loss from a car accident or motorcycle accident can happen in a blink of an eye. Whether you are the motorists or the motorcyclist, be careful and watch out for those who aren’t.
